Our aim is to develop a sense of community within Unique World. We want our staff to be proud of the company they work for and to shout from the rooftops about our genuine culture of “doing the right thing”.
Unique Worlders are a generous and community spirited bunch. Many are involved in local charities and community activities, and they want to support these communities (both local and international) through the Unique World work community.
We know it feels good to assist others. We enjoy great prosperity in Australia and it’s appropriate that we should give something back. And while it’s good to donate money, Unique World wants to encourage all staff to be able to give back in a practical way.
Comments and suggestions are always welcomed from all employees, but already, Unique World has implemented the following CSR program:
Exodus Foundation
In May 20111, Unique World entered into a formal agreement with the Exodus Foundation that operates the Loaves and Fishes Restaurant in Ashfied, Sydney, providing meals to disadvantaged people. Commencing in 2011 the senior management team is volunteering with lunchtime service, and an annual schedule of days will be established so all Sydney-based employees can contribute in the same way. Staff are also given the opportunity to donate their time and money to a range of Exodus Foundation’s volunteering initiatives.

Workplace giving – volunteering
Unique World recognises that due to world events and personal affiliation, staff may wish to volunteer for other organisations. While it’s preferred activities arranged as team activities, all staff may request one paid day to volunteer for such endeavours.
Workplace giving – salary sacrifice
Unique World offers staff the facility to donate to their favourite charities via a regular payroll deduction in pre-tax dollars.
Workplace giving – charity fundraising activities
Regular fundraising activities are organised for major charities (nominated by staff), with Unique World matching dollar-for-dollar any staff contributions. Recent fundraising charities supported include Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day, Movember, Jeans for Genes and Pink Ribbon Day. Also, in response to the tsunami and earthquake crisis in Japan over $2,000 was raised for the Red Cross.
Workplace giving – coffee club
The Coffee Club was established whereby those staff who regularly enjoy coffee from the company-provided espresso machine, ingredients and barista training donate an amount which is paid regularly to the Cancer and Bowel Research Trust.
Other community service
A program to encourage workplace blood donation through the Australian Red Cross Service is being planned.
