WorkCoverNSW

The Client

WorkCover NSW is a statutory authority within the Minister for Commerce's portfolio. Its primary objective is to work in partnership with the NSW community to achieve safe workplaces, effective return to work and security for injured workers.

The Challenge

The current WCA Intranet site was developed in the 1990s and was in need of an upgrade. WorkcoverNSW required Unique World to work in partnership with WorkcoverNSW to deliver the Intranet with significant attention devoted to design and usability of the new Intranet.

The Solution

WorkcoverNSW embarked on a project to develop the new WorkCover intranet as well as a portal infrastructure platform for managing all WorkCover intranet, extranet and internet sites This project is part of the IMB Strategic Architecture Program.

The first phase of the project was to develop the new intranet portal that will provide easy access to information, systems and services for its stakeholders, including the migration and updating of relevant content from the current intranet site and creation of a significant volume of new content. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 was chosen as the strategic platform that will provide the core portal functionality. This software was also to integrate into with TRIM records management system, MS Outlook and Office desktop tools as well as the Online Service Centre.

The Benefit

Since WorkcoverNSW launched the intranet in June 2007, many collaborative sites have been established across WorkcoverNSW that have delivered major knowledge management and collaboration benefits to WorkcoverNSW staff through improvements in how they share, collaborate and communicate information across the organisation. Each business groups is also now responsible and empowered to manage its own content.
