InfoChoice

The Client

InfoChoice Limited is an Australian independent ‘infomediary’ in the market place for financial and investment services. Infochoice aims to provide unbiased information on a wide range goods and services and present them in an objective way which allows consumers to make easy, meaningful comparisons, and make informed choices.

The Challenge

As a result of tremendous growth as a company as a top 10 Australian financial internet destination, infochoice.com.au had expanded into new areas and had the need to provide more complex information needs to its many thousands of customers. The growth of the informational needs was not however easily supported by the existing system architecture which was unable to be rapidly modified to accommodate new categories and more flexibility in the storage, distribution and management of information assets.

The Solution

Unique World performed an analysis of the current capabilities of the infochoice website and the future requirements, and then performed a GAP analysis of these requirements against a variety of content management systems in the marketplace. The results of this analysis identified a need to perform heavy customisations to whichever tool was selected in order to cater for the highly specialised needs of the infochoice.com.au administrators. A CMS product was selected as the delivery platform, with this CMS application highly extensible via .NET, with many custom extensions required to enable the infochoice.com.au engine to be interfaced via multiple channels (webServices, RSS, etc..) to the multiple 3rd parties that contribute content and raw data to this site.

The Benefit

infochoice.com.au administrators and 3rd party contributors can now modify almost every element of the website relating to their security permissions with ease. In addition the time to make changes to the system and to release to new market categories is greatly reduced, with far more predictable results. This enables infochoice to respond with agility to changing market conditions and external events increasing the relevance and timelines of the information provided to the end users.
