CSL Limited is a global, specialty biopharmaceutical company that researches, develops, manufactures and markets products to treat and prevent serious human medical conditions.
The Challenge
CSL operated predominantly disparate and manual collaboration processes and document management systems. CSL required a solution to be implemented that provided CSL intranet and extranet a single portal to enable integration with the existing document management system, which CSL has invested heavily, and access to online collaboration processes.
The Solution
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) was the product selected to implement a solution to meet CSL's business requirements. The MOSS solution incorporated an interface to the existing CSL TRIM document management system, templates that promoted consistent and collaborative communications and processes between CSL business units along with providing CSL with the necessary training and mentoring that enabled CSL to maintain and support the solution once it was launched.
The Benefit
CSL were able to leverage their existing investment in TRIM to provide seamless document management capabilities delivered via MOSS and TRIM; used as the basis of meeting CSL's document management needs. CSL intranet and extranet endUsers have a single and simple access point to project collaboration templates a common and shared document management system. The implemented solution enables CSL to further extend and evolve the Portal features necessary to support future collaboration, document management and information management needs.
