Austrade

The Client

The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) is a statutory agency within the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio, established by the Australian Trade Commission Act 1985.

The Challenge

Austrade were looking to replace their current SharePoint 2003 and a number of other systems with a single SharePoint 2007 environment. For Austrade it was very important that current information could be migrated to SharePoint; that they could achieve integration with Microsoft Office applications and that there was business value across the organisation by using integrated portal technologies. Austrade realised through internal analysis and comparison of the products, that a SharePoint Portal was going to empower their staff to collaborate, publish and discover documents quickly and easily across their global organisation.

The Solution

Unique World undertook strategic business consulting with the Austrade to understand their vision and need for SharePoint 2007. Over the time span of a very short period of time was able to create a proof of concept portal. This portal converted the idea of the intranet into a tangible form for review by key Austrade stakeholders, to provide them the means to understand the benefits and functionality of SharePoint. The Austrade engaged Unique World to design and implement the organisations SharePoint Portal.

The Benefit

Austrade now have a branded corporate portal called “Connect” with industry and project team news and announcement available to all employees; employee ‘My Site’ pages for personal and public profiles; document management and collaboration within document libraries which have been extended for Austrade's requirements and powerful search capabilities that include a knowledge management foundation.
